FIONA MULCAHY, MD. F.R.C.P.I – ST. JAMES HOSPITAL, DUBLIN, IRELAND Prof Mulcahy is a consultant physician in the Department of Genito Urinary Medicine and Infectious Diseases at St James’s Hospital Dublin and is University Professor at Trinity College Dublin. She runs the largest Sexual Health /STD/HIV clinic in the country. Prof Mulcahy graduated from Trinity College Dublin BA, MB, MCH 1979, MD 1986 and did her fellowship training in Sexual Health /HIV Medicine at the Leeds General Infirmary Leeds UK. She was appointed Consultant in Genito Urinary Medicine and HIV Medicine at St James’s Hospital in 1987, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 1991. She is currently President of the European AIDS Clinical Society. For her work in HIV she was awarded Irish Women of The Year in 1996. Title: Recent Advances in HIV Management There have many great achievements in the treatment, management and prevention of HIV. Prevention of HIV with PEP, PrEP and treatment as prevention has also been demonstrated in studies and the goals of achieving 90/90/90 in 2020 is progressing well in many countries. HIV is a long term chronic illness controlled on ART with a normal life expectancy. Most importantly recent formulations of ART are available in less toxic and more simplified regimens.
