FARIDEH FARAHANI, PHD – NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF POPULATION RESEARCH, TEHRAN, IRAN Dr Farideh Khalajabadi Farahani, is an associate professor of population studies/reproductive health in National Institute of Population Research (NIPR), Iran. In 2008, she received her PhD from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has got clinical and health background. Dr Farahani, was involved in various studies to assess adolescents and young people’s sexuality, and their knowledge and attitude over the past 18 years with sexual health approach. In 2001, adolescent boys’ sexuality in Tehran, in 2005, sexuality of female college students, in 2013, male college students’ sexuality and HIV risk perception, in 2016, meta-analysis of 14000 young people’s sexuality and finally, in 2016, qualitative exploration of internet and sexuality among adolescents were among her most important research contributions. Title: Sexual Health and HIV/STIs Among Young People in Iran A conservative sexual culture is dominant in Iran; however, recent evidence suggests changes in sexual behaviors among youth. First, prevalence of HIV/STIs and high risks sexual behaviors among youth is presented, second, youth’s views on their need to sexual health information are discussed, third, challenges of sexual health intervention are explained in conservative society of Iran, and fourth, some strategies are suggested.
